adam's essay ladies and gentlemen... |
i feel that lettuce plays a key role in the taco
experience. to fully understand this, we must look at every element of the taco, and disect it's purpose, and relevance. first there is the meat, without this, there is no taco, then you have sour cream. the sour cream is like a boy running with sciccors, it's only a matter of time until something goes wrong. what usually happens with the sour cream, is that too much is put on the taco, thusly ruining the taco experience. i feel that the sour cream is unneccesary. then comes the LETTUCE. the key part to the taco. it holds it all together. with the lettuce on the taco, the sour cream becomes obselete. what the sour cream tries to accomplish is to refresh you, while eating the hot and spicy meat. but as i said earlier, the sour cream is a BAD IDEA! so the lettuce does the same job, but better. with lettuce, no one gets hurt. the lettuce is cool, and refreshing, and clears the palate of your mouth, before taking another delicious bite. however, the lettuce should not be the first thing to touch the meat. there has to be a barrier, to prevent the lettuce from becoming warm and nasty. i invite you to come with me, back to 1995, to a wonderful place called McDonalds. They had a revolutionary idea, way back when, to seperate the lettuce and tomato from the meat and the bun. this way, the lettuce and tomato would stay cool and fresh, and the meat and bun would stay warm, and dry. for some odd reason, this idea didnt last long, and now we all must suffer from wet buns and warm lettuce. now we travel back into the year 2000. as i was saying, there must be a barrier between the lettuce and the meat. so, the cheese should be the first thing to touch the meat, because the cheese would melt on the hot meat, and we all know that melted cheese is a good thing. then the tomatos and then , finally, the LETTUCE!! and now we come to the part of the taco that i call " hot sauce ". there is a fine technique to putting on the " hot sauce ". a little bit of it should be spread over every part of the taco, before the next layer is added. as to " lettuce cruelty ", i dont believe in it. lettuce, as all foods do, live to be enjoyed by humans. in any form, the lettuce takes great pleasure in adding its own great taste to the taco experience. as long as the lettuce is enjoyed to the fullest, it is not being treated cruelly. lettuce = good - Adam - |
