do you think it's a good idea? No. Personally, I don't believe that lettuce is a viable condiment, and should never be shredded up for the purposes of taste enhancement. When lettuce is placed on a taco, the sauce from the meat as well as the heat from the affore mention meat causes the loss of the well known "lettuce flavor". Thusly, the lettuce has just become a sort of substance to occupy space, or "substanciating" the taco with the left over leafy crunch. One couls in effect add potato chips to the taco, but that would just be a fopah. Should it be the first topping to touch the meat? As for this subject, going along with my previous statement; if one chooses (unrightfully so) to place lettuce on his taco, then no, it should not be the first thing to touch the meat. In order to minumize flavor reduction the lettuce should be placed on last, farthest away from the meat. That way, the consumer can fully enjoy the flavor of his choice to put lettuce on his taco. Is there really such a thing as lettuce cruelty? My first statement seems to apply for both the suggested questions. There is such a thing as lettuce cruelty. Bringing lettuce, a full blooded vegetable, down to the levels of a lowly condiment is severely cruel. In summary, I believe that lettuce should never be used on a taco. (i.e. I don't like lettuce so I don't put it on my tacos) kissel |
